Biography
Discus thrower Klaus-Peter Hennig took part in the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games but was eliminated in the qualifying round both times. In 1969 he was nominated for the 1969 European Championships but could not start due to the West German boycott. When former GDR-runner Jürgen May was nominated for these Championships for the West German team, former GDR officials successfully protested against his nomination, and this led to the West German boycott. In 1971 Hennig placed 11th at the Europeans. At the Military World Championships (CISM) Hennig earned a silver medal in 1970 and a gold one year later. He was West German Champion in 1971, 1973 and 1975. Hennig was educated as a mechanical engineer.
