Jürgen Kalfelder

Jürgen Kalfelder and his family moved to Lüdenscheid in 1946, where he began playing football for RSV Lüdenscheid. In 1959 he began his track & field athletics career with Wuppertaler Sportverein. In 1964 Kalfelder was eliminated in the heats of the 400 metres at the Tokyo Olympics. He was West German Champion in the 400 and the 4x400 relay in 1963 and 1964.

Kalfelder later made his living as a representative for adidas, becoming director of the adidas-Sports Hotel in 1973. In 1986 he opened a restaurant at Herzogenaurach and four years later took over sales management at the well-known sparkling wine producer “Deinhard.” He also organized sparkling wine catering for the German House at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In 1997 Kalfelder moved to Trier and worked for the sparkling wine producer “Bernhard Massard.”

Kalfelder briefly became a regional politician for the conservative Christian Democratic Party, but beginning in 1979 he became a tennis coach as a side job for the Bavarian Tennis Association, where he was responsible for the coaching of regional trainers in Middle Franconia. He also coached with the tennis clubs TC 1966 Herzogenaurach and TC Aurachtal, where he also organized several youth camps.
