Hans Helmut Krause finished seventh in the 1,500 m at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. The same year he won a gold medal at the World University Games, also competing in that event in 1930, with less success. He won German titles in 1930 and 1931 in the 1,500, and with the 4x1,500 relay in 1928. Before World War II Krause was a country parson in a Silesian community. He was killed in action in 1944 while serving with the rank of lieutenant and battalion commander, fighting against partisans.
