Race walker Horst-Rüdiger Magnor finished 11th at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and was 16th four years later in München, both over 50 km. He studied medicine, working first in Offenbach and eventually became a doctor of general medicine in Gedern. Domestically Magnor had five podiums in the West German Championships without earning a national title.
