Alsace-born German Jacques Person was killed in action during World War I as a member of the 7. Thuringia Infantery-Regiment Nr. 96. He participated in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in the 400 and the 800m. Person was educated as an economist at Strasbourg, France, and was related to well-known Berlin sports administrator Arthur Person (1926-1993), who led the German initiative “Youth training for the Olympics”.
