Biography

Marathon runner Ralf Salzmann came in 18th at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and 23rd four years later in Seoul. At the World Championships he retired twice in 1983 and 1987, while at the Europeans he finished 22nd in 1982 and 4th in 1986. The educated policeman collected seven West German Championships, five in the marathon in 1980-84, and two more in cross country races. During his career, Salzmann lived first in Frankfurt (1980-85) but then moved to Kassel where he became responsible for the sports education of Hessian policemen.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-10:01 (1988).
