Biography

Sprinter Karl-Peter Schmidtke finished sixth with the sprint relay at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and reached the second round of the 100. In 1967 he participated in the European Indoors. The same year he won his only West German title in the indoor 60 metres. In 1991 he was awarded the DLV Needle in Silver. He trained as a bank clerk and later became a deputy CEO in an industrial bank.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.38 (1968).
