Biography

Shot putter Karsten Stolz, whose father Günther Stolz was a discus thrower and shot putter, participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and finished 12th in the shot put. Between 1984 and 1990, Karsten won five West German Championships, also winning four indoor ones, but he struggled in international competitions. At the 1987 Worlds he was 11th, at the 1986 Europeans sixth, and at the 1990 Europeans ninth. He finished sixth and second at the 1987 and 1989 European Cups. Indoors, he was eighth and fifth at the 1987 and 1989 Worlds. His best moments were at the 1988 and 1989 European Indoors, winning two silver medals. By profession he was an industrial clerk.

Personal Best: SP – 21.15 (1988).
