Long jumper Hans-Helmut Trense failed to qualify for the final at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He finished third at the 1965 European Cup, when he also was runner-up at the West German Championships. In 1961 and 1963 he was West German Police Champion. Trense was a policeman, later becoming a Regierungsdirektor (government director).
