Russian-born German race walker Nischan Daimer placed 15th over 20 kilometres at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games. The previous year he won his only national title in the 20k. He added four national silvers and three team gold, two silvers and two bronzes between 1999-2018.
Daimer was born in Russia as Nischan Tsamonikian of Armenian descent. His family changed its name when emigrating to West Germany. He later became a sports teacher and a race-walking coach.
