Gustav Weinkötz finished fourth in the high jump at the 1934 European Championships. He also came in sixth at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Weinkötz won four consecutive German Championships in 1935-38. In 1937 he was the first German high jumper to clear 2.00 metres. In 1952 he published the textbook High Jumper. His son Michael also became a high jumper.
