Georgios Gennimatas

At the Evelpidon Military School Georgios Gennimatas was second-in-command of the Greek cavalry. As an athlete Gennimatas was the high jump champion at the first Panhellenic Games in 1896. In the same year he ran in the 100 metres at the Athína Olympics but did not advance from his opening heat. By the time of the 1902 Equestrian, Gymnastic and Cycling Games in Podoniftis Gennimatas had reached the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He won two equestrian speed events with each attracting a prize worth 200 drachmas.
