Greek track and field athlete Antonios Mangos specialised in distances from 400 to 1,500 metres and won multiple medals at the Panhellenic Athletics Championship. Mangos won his first medals at the Panhellenic championships in 1927 with bronze in both the 400 and 800 metres. The following year he won gold in 800 metres along with bronze in the 400 and 1,500 metres. He was selected to run in the 800 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not advance from his heat. At the Amsterdam Games he was also scheduled to run in the 400 metres, 1,500 metres, and the 4 × 400 metres relay, but did not start in any of those.
Mangos suffered from an eye disease that prevented him from serving in the Greek Army but he enlisted as a volunteer during the Greco-Italian War of 1940. Due to his poor eyesight he fell into a ravine where he remained alive but died in a military hospital three days later.
Personal Best: 800 – 2:03.8 (1924).
