Athanasios Skaltsogiannis was a Greek track and field athlete and gymnast. Skaltsogiannis competed at the Tinia in 1895, a multi-sports event used as a prelude for the first modern Olympics, where he was the champion in the long jump. The following year he finished in second place in both the 110 metres hurdles and the long jump at the 1896 Panhellenic Games, with the event being used as qualification for the Athína Olympics. At the 1896 Athína Olympics Skaltsogiannis took part in the same two events as the Panhellenic Games, where he was eliminated in the heats of the hurdles and did not have his distance recorded in the long jump. Skaltsogiannis later worked as guard at the Medresse prison where he was murdered by an inmate who was trying to escape.
