Biography

Klára Soós began her sports career at the age of 16 in the colours of MEFESZ. The following year, she competed as an athlete for Újpesti Dózsa. Soós won her first individual Hungarian championship title in 1953 in the pentathlon. In the following years, she won four championships in the 80 metres hurdles, and two each in the long jump and pentathlon. She was part of 11 additional championship titles with relays. Between 1952 and 1961 she competed for the Hungarian national team. At the age of just 19, Soós was able to participate in the Helsinki Olympics, where she competed in the 200 metres and the 80 metres hurdles. From 1952 until her retirement, she was an employee of the Ministry of the Interior, where she worked primarily in the financial field.

Personal Bests: 200 – 25.2 (1953); 80H – 11.1 (1959).
