Ödön Holits

Ödön Holits was a track and field athlete with MTK Budapest. He competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics, and in 1909 was the national long jump champion. Holits also played football, and won the national championship with MTK in 1907/08. He was capped by the national team four times between 1903-05. After his sporting career, he became a physical education teacher and professional football trainer, originally with MAFC.

Between 1922 and 1924, with Újpest, Holits achieved second and third place in the national league. Along with Gyula Kiss, he was a coach of the national team that went to the 1924 Paris Olympics. They were considered one of the favourites for the gold medal, but suffered a shock 3-0 defeat by Egypt and were eliminated in the last 16. Following this defeat, Kiss resigned, and Holits took over his position for one game. In the 1925-26 season, he was again the head coach of Újpest. He was also a coach with Nemzeti SC and took up a similar position in Switzerland in 1923, 1924 and 1928.
