Biography

Béla Juhász was an athlete of Csepel, BBTE and Vasas, and a significant representative of the excellent domestic middle and long-distance running team that emerged in the heyday of Hungarian athletics in the early 1950s. As early as 1947 Juhász was part of the Vasas 5,000 metres champion team, which he then managed to repeat three times until the team championship was suspended in 1951. In 1955 he won the Hungarian individual championship in his first marathon competition.

Juhász became a member of the Hungarian national team in 1939 and competed sixteen times until 1957. He represented Hungary in the 10,000 metres at the Helsinki Olympics (1952) and the European Championships (1954) in Bern.

After finishing his racing career Juhász worked as a coach for a long time. First, he worked for Vasas, then for Csepel SC between 1963 and 1975. In addition to coaching, he also worked as a material purchaser.

Personal Best: 10000 – 29:50.6 (1956).
