Kornél Késmárki was the son of Gyula Kellner, the third-place winner of the 1896 marathon. As a BBTE competitor, he won the championship in high jump seven times between 1927 and 1934. In 1928 he took part in the Amsterdam Olympics, where he finished 11th. In 1929 he became the first Hungarian to win the British AAA championship title in the high jump. After his sports career he worked as coach. It is stated in the family legend that he was a bohemian, a lady’s favorite. In his later years he moved to the north of England and died there.
