Pál Király began his sports career as a footballer at BTC in 1912, and continued as a track & field athlete with Egyetértés from 1913, until World War I interrupted his career. He competed primarily in long-distance running, where he was a three-time Hungarian record holder at 10,000 metres and a three-time national champion in the marathon (1925-27), adding an additional title in cross-country in 1924. At the 1923 Göteborg Workers Olympics, he finished third in the marathon. At the 1924 Olympics, he ran both the 10,000 metres and marathon, but did not finish either race. He was also nominated for the 1928 Olympics, but did not compete. After finishing his career in 1931, he worked as a coach and ran a restaurant known as the “Marathon Runner”.
