Biography

Ferenc Temesvári began his sports career in 1933 as a high jumper at Budapesti Budai Torna Egylet (BBTE). The following year he won the Budapest Youth Championship, but in 1935 he exploded into Hungarian athletics as a middle-distance runner. First, he ran a youth record at 400 and 800 metres, then finished first in the Hungarian championship with the 4x400 metre relay and second at 800 metres. Eventually, he also won the British Championship (AAA) with the BBTE 4x800 relay team.

In 1936 Temesvári competed at the Berlin Olympics, where he reached the semi-finals of the 800 metres. After the Olympics, he sat out a year due to illness, returning in 1938. He finished second in the Hungarian Championship at 800 and third at 400 metres, took part in the European Championships, and then disappeared from the sport.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:53.5 (1938).
