Ranjit Bhatia was an Indian distance runner who ran the 5,000 and marathon at the 1960 Rome Olympics. Bhatia first studied at St. Stephen’s College but was then a Rhodes Scholar who studied mathematics at Jesus College at Oxford. He later became a reader of mathematics at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi. Bhatia was awarded an Order of the British Empire for his accomplishments, especially for being a link being British and Indian sport and for his services to the Rhodes Trust.
