Ajmer Singh won the gold medal in the 400 metres at the 1966 Asian Games in Jakarta. At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics he was a member of the Indian 4x400 metres squad which was eliminated in the heats. He later became Vice Chancellor of Laxmibai National University of Physical Educatiopn in Gwalior.
