Biography

Joe Kashmiri competed as a discus thrower for Iran at the 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games. He was also entered in the shot put in 1968 but did not start.

Kashmiri won six medals at the Asian Games from 1966-1974, with gold medals in the shot put and discus throw in 1974. He attended school in the United States at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) after transferring from Hancock Junior College in Santa Maria, California. At UNLV Kashmiri won the Far West Conference title in the discus throw.

Kashmiri was entered at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics as Sayed Jalal Ali Mirza Momadail, which caused him to be listed for many years as two different Olympians, but news stories based on UNLV confirm that it was the same athlete in 1964 and 1968.
