Alister Clark was the winner of a record seven Scottish 120y hurdles titles between 1923 and 1933. After attending Glasgow University for one year, he moved to Edinburgh University where he graduated in 1926. He then took up a teaching appointment at the Methodist College, Belfast and in 1928 won the Irish 120y hurdles title and represented Ireland at the Olympic Games.
