Vilhjálmur Vilmundarson was an Icelandic track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put. Vilmundarson was selected to compete at the 1948 London Olympics where he placed 17th with a best effort of 13.990 metres. The following year he began work for the customs commission where he spent the best part of forty years before finishing his career with the Icelandic commercial bank Landsbanki.
