Antonella Capriotti

Antonella Capriotti was an Italian long and triple jumper who won three medals at the Mediterranean Games: bronze and gold in long jump in 1983 and 1987, respectively, and bronze in the 1997 triple jump. She competed twice at the Olympic Games but never made it out of qualifying. Capriotti was at her best indoors where she had good placings at the European and World Championships.

In the final years of her career, Capriotti focused on the triple jump, a specialty that was fairly new for women at the time. She was the first Italian woman to better 14 metres, with a personal best and national record of 14.18 that placed sixth at the 1993 Stuttgart World Championships. Her 6.72 m long jump in 1988 is still the third-best Italian performance through 2019. Antonella was a member of the Italian national team from 1980-97 during which time she represented her country 55 times.

Capriotti won 18 national titles: 12 outdoors (long jump: 1984-90, 1993; triple jump: 1991-93, 1997) and six indoors (long jump: 1987-88, 1992-93, 1996; 60 metres: 1982). She married former Italian decathlon champion (1985-86, 1988) Marco Rossi, and they settled in Verona where she collaborated with - VeronaFiere, the leading Italian direct event organizer.
