Carla Panerai was an Italian hurdler who competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. At the Italian championships in Trieste in July 1968, she won the 80 hurdles, breaking two national records within 24 hours – in the heat with 10.8 and in the semi-final with 10.7, while winning the final with a more modest 11.1. In May 1969 she also set an Italian record in the 100 metre hurdles with 14.8, which only lasted six days, quickly being improved by Magalì Vettorazzo with 14.7.
Internationally Panerai’s biggest title was winning gold at the 1967 Mediterranean Games. She earned 8 international caps from 1967-69. In 1968 she was awarded the bronze medal of the Italian Olympic Committee for her athletic achievements.
