Biography

Sandro Brogini was an Italian decathlete between the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 80s. He started as a high jumper and won the bronze medal at the 1977 European Junior Championships at Donetsk, Soviet Union. Moving on to the decathlon a couple of years later, Brogini set the Italian record of 7,644 points on 22 June 1980 in Copenhagen, which earned him a call-up for the Olympics. Unfortunately, after seven events in Moskva, he had to withdraw because his pole had not been delivered in time for the pole vault discipline. Between 1980-83, Brogini won five international caps. Domestically, he won only one Italian title in 1981 with 7,413 points when he was a member of the Fiamme Oro Padova.

Personal Best: Dec – 7644 (1980).
