Franco Grossi was an Italian discus thrower in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Italian discus throwing in that era was still dominated by the 1948 London Olympic champion Adolfo Consolini, who would win a total of 15 national titles. Grossi obtained his first significant result in 1959 with third place at the Italian Championships behind Consolini and Carmelo Rado.
This result saw Grossi named to the Italian team at the Roma Olympics where he did not qualify for the final. Grossi won Italian titles in 1963 and 1965, after Consolini had retired. His greatest international results came at the 1963 Napoli Mediterranean Games, placing third with 52.85. Grossi earned 14 international caps from 1960-65.
Personal Best: DT – 56.26 (1967).
