Biography

Italian hurdler Moreno Martini represented Italy internationally on 11 occasions, among others at the 1960 Olympics in Rome, where he reached the semi-finals. He was also eliminated at stage at the European Championships two years earlier, in Stockholm. Nationally, Martini did better, winning the national title over 400 m hurdles in 1955 and 1959. He also improved the Italian record in that event three times in the 1959 season, eventually bringing it to 51.1 seconds. Martini was always active for Virtus Lucca, and in 1976 he was one of the members that revived and reorganized the club.

Personal Best: 400H – 51.1 (1959).
