Izumi Maki was a Japanese distance runner who competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, finishing 12th both years, in the 10K in 1992 and the marathon in 1996. She also competed in the 10K at the 1991 and 1993 World Championships. Maki ran at the World Cross-Country Championships from 1991-93.
Maki won the 1996 Nagoya International Women’s Marathon, and her other victories included the 1993 and 1994 Shibetsu Half-Marathon, the 1994 Gold Coast Marathon, the 1995 Sapporo Half-Marathon, and the 1998 Pilot Marathon. After winning the 1995 Sapporo Half-Marathon, Maki was disqualified for a positive doping test and served a three-month ban. She later became a training advisor to the Fujita Running Academy.
