Takayoshi Kawagoe was a Japanese track and field athlete who specialised in the long jump. Kawagoe was a two-time national champion in the event, winning his first title in 1972. The same year he competed at the München Olympics but failed to advance from the qualification group, after falling way short of the 7.80 metres required to advance to the final. In 1974 he won his second national title and won silver at the Asian Games in Tehran.
