Eiichiro Matsuno was entered for the shot put and the hammer throw at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but competed only in the latter. He had won the hammer throw at the 1935 Japan Athletics Championships and in 1934 had won the discus throw. At Kyoto University he was enrolled in the Mining Department.
