Biography

Croatian basketball player Ratomir “Rato” Tvrdić represented KK Split from 1960 until 1977, and the Yugoslav national team from 1967 to 1975. Tvrdić played 18 seasons of domestic basketball where he scored more than 5,500 points and won the Yugoslav League championship twice (1971, 1977), three Yugoslav Cups (1972, 1974, 1977), and two FIBA Korać Cups (1976, 1977). He was also a runner-up at the 1971–72 FIBA European Champions Cup and the 1972–73 FIBA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Tvrdić replicated his domestic success internationally with Yugoslavia winning the FIBA World Cup in 1970, along with finishing as runners-up in 1967 and 1974. At the EuroBasket tournament he won silver in 1969, before winning gold in 1973 and 1975. Tvrdić also won gold at the 1967 Mediterranean Games, and finished fifth at the basketball tournament at the 1972 München Olympics.
