Biography

Tatsuo Toki started to practice shot put and discus throw when he went to Tomioka Junior High School. He later took up the decathlon, winning five consecutive titles (1928-32) at the Japanese Athletics Championships in this event. Representing Japan as their national champion he finished 12th at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. After retiring from his active career, Toki was active as a track & field coach. In 1963, he was appointed dean of the Faculty of Physical Education at the Chukyo University in Nagoya. He died from cancer only four years later.
