While Seiichi Ueda attended the Tokyo Higher Normal School, he won the 1922 and 1923 national championships in the javelin throw. He was selected for the 6th Far Eastern Games 1923 in Osaka and won the pentathlon. Ueda competed in the same event at the Paris Olympics and the 7th Far Eastern Games in Manila
