Biography

Sadako Yamamoto graduated from the women’s physical education department of Chukyo High School of (since 2010 Shigakkan University). She later worked as a teacher at the same school. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics she placed fifth in the women’s javelin, missing the bronze medal by just 35 cm. She won national titles at the Japan Athletics Championships in 1934 and 1935 and again – after a break of 13 years – in 1948 and 1949.
