Paul Koech was a Kenyan distance runner who competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the 10,000 metres, placing sixth. In 1998 Koech won world titles in the 10K and the half-marathon on the roads. Koech won the 5,000 at the 1996 African Championships. He was best known for his performances in the International Cross-Country Championship, winning a silver medal in 1998, and recording six top-6 finishes, with fourths in 1996-97, fifth in 2003, and sixth places in 1999-2000. He was second at the 2003 Chicago Marathon.
