Munyoro Nyamau won am Olympic 4x400 m relay gold in 1972 and silver in 1968. He was also a Commonwealth Games 4x400 m champion in 1970, East and Central African 400 m champion in 1972, and East and Central African 4x400 relay champion from 1967-72. Nyamau was also part of one world record, when he was a member of the Kenyan 4x880 yds relay team that clocked 7:11.6 in September 1970. Outside of sports, Nyamau was a career military man, joining the Kenyan Army in 1963 and retiring from the force in 1997. He later ran a shop in Kiogoro, Nyamira.
