Heino Veskila competed for Estonia both in basketball and as a high jumper, setting an Estonian record of 1.85 metres in the high jump. He graduated from Tartu Night High School in 1938, where he played forward. Veskila made the All-Star team at the 1937 European Championships and was Estonia’s leading scorer at the 1939 European Championships, with 116 points in seven games. He earned 17 caps in baskeball for Estonia. He died in June or July 1941 as a prisoner-of-war.
