Biography

Tambusamy Krishnan was a Malaysian track and field athlete who specialised in sprint and relay races. Krishnan was part of the quartet that won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1965 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games in Kuala Lumpur. The following year he won three medals at the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok, with gold in the 4 × 100 metres relay, silver in the 4 × 400 metres relay, and bronze in the 200 metres. At the 1968 Mexico City Olympics he ran in the 4 × 100 metres relay where the Malaysian team reached the semi-finals. Krishnan won another bronze at the Asian Games in 1970 when the team finished in third place in the 4 × 400 metres relay. He made his second appearance at the Olympics at the 1972 München Games, running in the 400 metres and the 4 × 400 metres relay. After his athletics career Krishnan worked in coaching programmes for the Penang state sports council and the National Sports Council.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.70 (1966); 400 – 47.8 (1971).
