Biography

Mexican track and field athlete Jesús Aguirre specialised in the shot put, discus, and the hammer throw. Aguirre finished in 27th place in the shot put at the 1924 Paris Olympics with a best throw of 9.470 metres. He was also scheduled to participate in the discus throw at the Paris Games but did not start the event. Two years later Aguirre had better success at his home edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games, winning silver in the shot put and bronze in the discus and hammer throws.

Aguirre returned to the Olympics for the 1928 Amsterdam Games, competing in the shot put and discus throw where he finished in 22nd place and 33rd place, respectively. He was also the flag bearer for Mexico at the Opening Ceremony in Amsterdam. Aguirre was due to compete at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in the shot put and discus but did not start in either event.
