Mexican track and field athlete Alfonso de Gortari won gold in the long jump at the 1926 Central American and Caribbean Games with 6.70 metres. Two years later Gortari competed in the same event at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he was eliminated in the qualifying round. He was also scheduled to compete in the pole vault and the discus at the Amsterdam Games but did not start in either event.
