Biography

Wilhelm Effern was a Dutch track and field athlete who represented AV Haarlem. Effern specialised in middle-distance running and was selected to compete at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. He ran in the 1,500 metres where he finished seventh in his heat, with only the first two athletes advancing to the final. In 1931 he was part of the Dutch quartet that set a national record for club teams in the 4 x 1,500 metres relay.
