Biography

Bram Groeneweg was a Dutch distance runner who represented Pro Patria in Rotterdam. Early in his career Groeneweg was selected to run in the marathon at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not finish the course. Despite this he continued to compete in long-distance running, winning four Dutch titles in the 1930s. His first one came in the 25 km race in 1931 with him successfully defending his title the following year, before winning his third in the event in 1936. In 1937 the first edition of the Dutch marathon championships was held with Groeneweg winning the race at the course in Rotterdam.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-54:04 (1937).
