Biography
One of the best Dutch sprinters in the post-war years, Jan Kleyn won three Dutch titles between 1947 and 1949. He broke two Dutch records (both in the 4×200 m relay), and competed in nine international matches. As an officer of the Dutch Royal Airforce, he competed at the 1946 and 1947 Inter-Allied Athletics Championships, winning the 100 and 200 m on both occasions. Due to an injury, his Olympic appearance in London was limited to the heats of the 100 m. After his active career, Kleyn became active as an official. He was chairman of the technical comittee of the Dutch track and field federation between 1962 and 1972, while also working as the sales director of a major insurance company.
