Biography

Dutch distance runner Arie Klaase won three national titles and set several records during the 1920s. In 1925 Klaase became the Dutch champion in the 10,000 metres and won his second title in the event two years later. In 1926 he was also crowned the national cross-country champion. He was selected to run in the 5,000 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not progress from the heats. During his career Klaase set national records in the 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 metres.

Personal Best: 5000 – 15:40.4 (1928).
