Dutch track and field athlete Arie Kaan represented AV Haarlem in the 1920s and 1930s. Kaan was a specialist in the hurdles and became the national champion in the 110 metres event in 1926. Two years later he competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not advance from the heats. His brother Willem “Wim” Kaan (a non-Olympian) finished fourth in the 1934 European Championships 110 metres hurdles.
