Biography

Dutch track and field athlete Joop Vermeulen represented DOS in Rotterdam where he competed in long-distance running events. In 1928 Vermeulen was one of the six Dutch athletes who were selected to run in the marathon at the Amsterdam Olympics. His race was disappointing, however, with him finishing 54th, almost 45 minutes behind the winning time.
