Biography

Trine Solberg-Hattestad was a five-time Olympic javelin thrower, winning the gold medal in her fifth Olympics, in 2000, after taking bronze in 1996. She started out in sports as a handball player but quickly saw she had talent for the javelin.

Hattestad won the World Championship in the javelin in 1993 and 1997, taking bronze in 1999. She was the 1994 European Champion. Hattestad set two world records in 2000, with her second record of 69.48 metres her personal best with the “new” javelin, although she had thrown 72.12 in 1993 with the older model.

Personal Bests: JT96 – 72.12 (1993); JT00 – 69.48 (2000).
